Albufeira makes as superb central Algarve base for family golf holidays. A choice of golf courses near Albufeira coincides with great family holiday attractions including a choice of sheltered family beaches and holiday attractions like Aqualand and Zoomarine.

There's some superb luxury golf courses around Albufeira. Herdade dos Salgados Golf is challenging indeed with numerous water hazards. This Algarve golf course will appeal to skilled golfers, and what a location sitting as it does on old marsh land and still attracting birds and wildlife. Salgados Golf is an 18 hole course demanding a minimum handicap of 28 for men and 36 for women. It's conveniently just 5 minutes outside of Albufeira centre, and just a short hop off the A2 motorway.

Covering a massive 8 hectares, this ocean life extravaganza has an educational slant alongside plenty of fun and entertainment. There's a choice of animal shows including dolphin shows, Birds of Prey Shows and Tropical Bird Shows. A 4D cinema, aquarium, a dome shaped planet awareness centre and rides and slides are all here at Zoomarine on the Algarve (see Zoomarine weblink right for details).

Both Vilamoura and Albufeira have great lively marinas with a choice of family holiday activities such as family bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, boat trips. Albufeira's marina to the west of the centre has a mini train and small kids playground, and makes a superb spot to spend an afternoon or evening. Also in Albufeira in the main tourist hub of Montechoro up from Praia Oura checkout the family holiday complex at Montechoro Park with outdoor swimming pool and a choice of surrounding family restaurants and cafe bars.
